More than 60,000 supermarkets globally trust Solstice® Refrigerants to help them comply with current and proposed regulations, aiming to reduce the use of high-GWP HFCs. No matter what your store footprint is – small, medium, or large, our Solstice® technology offers you refrigerant for low and medium applications for new systems and retrofits, including: supermarket system, condensing unit, stand-alone refrigerator, and high side of cascade.

A2L refrigerants for Supermarkets

Solstice® L40X (R-455A)

Mildly flammable (A2L refrigerant), <150 GWP refrigerant that provides better performance, lower CAPEX, and improved operating efficiencies compared to the higher GWP refrigerants it replaces. Proven to provide CAPEX equipment reduction vs. other low GWP A2L refrigerants due to reduced equipment required from increased charge size.

Solstice® 454C (R-454C)

GWP of 466, mildly flammable (A2L refrigerant), with a close match to R-404A equipment design. Demonstrates nearly 10% improved efficiency and capacity within 8% of R-404A, with a GWP that’s 96% lower than R-404A.

Solstice® 454A (R-454A)

A non-ozone depleting, zeotropic blend designed as a low GWP alternative to R-404A in refrigeration applications. Demonstrates approximately 6% improved efficiency, 8% better capacity, and has 94% lower GWP than R-404A.

Solstice® ze (R-1234ze)

An energy-efficient, ultra-low GWP refrigerant alternative to R-134a in chillers for supermarkets.

Solstice® yf - (R-1234yf)

A near drop-in replacement for R-134a in automobile A/C applications, helping automakers around the world comply with EU low GWP requirements.

A1 refrigerants for Supermarkets

Solstice® N40 (R-448A)

Lower-GWP nonflammable (A1) refrigerant for low and medium-temperature supermarket refrigeration retrofits and new systems. Demonstrates lower energy consumption, increased refrigeration capacity, and coefficient of performance (COP) compared to R404A

Solstice® 513A - (R-513A)

A non-ozone depleting, low global warming potential (GWP) hydrofluoroolefin (HFO)- based refrigerant developed to replace R-134a.

Choosing The Right Refrigerant And It’s Not CO2

Supermarkets face intense pressure to increase sales, reduce costs, and adhere to the regulations for phasing down the use of high Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants. While grocers evaluate their refrigeration options, there is much more to consider than regulatory compliance alone.
