Refrigerants for Buildings

Buildings are responsible for 40% of global energy consumption and 33% of greenhouse gas emissions. Moving towards renewable energy and eliminating fossil fuels in buildings will be key to our efforts to reduce emissions, lower energy costs, and tackle climate change. Solstice® HFO refrigerants for buildings outperform HFC alternatives offering improved efficiency and matching capacity to higher GWP refrigerants including R-410A, R-134A, and R-123 for - Chillers for comfort cooling/heating, Residential/light commercial AC/heat pumps/district heating and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems.

A2L refrigerants for Buildings

Solstice®  454B (R-454B)

Mildly flammable (A2L refrigerant), non-ozone depleting, zeotropic blend with improved efficiency and matching capacity to R-410A and with a GWP that’s 78% lower, minimizing redesign costs and capital expenditures. Most optimized R-410A replacement, providing easy conversion with minimal changes from an R-410A design

Solstice® ze (R-1234ze)

Mildly flammable (A2L refrigerant), ultra-low GWP, and non-corrosive in comparison to ammonia, which is toxic and highly corrosive, and can pose serious risks to human health. Offers significantly improved efficiency in chiller applications over ammonia

A1 refrigerants for Buildings

Solstice® zd (R-1233zd)

Nonflammable (A1), ultra-low GWP of <1, offering better capacity and similar efficiency to R-123. Provides higher efficiency when compared to R-245fa in renewable heat recovery and in waste recovery in both mobile and stationary applications

Solstice® 513A - (R-513A)

A non-ozone depleting, low global warming potential (GWP) hydrofluoroolefin (HFO)- based refrigerant developed to replace R-134a.

Solstice® N15 (R-515B)

GWP of 293, nonflammable (A1) azeotropic blend that demonstrates environmental and performance benefits in new systems. Matches the capacity and efficiency of R-1234ze, hence it can be used in all equipment that has been designed for R-1234ze
