S-900

Spectra® S-900 fiber was the first commercially available extended-chain, high-strength polyethylene fiber and the first in a series of Spectra fibers. It is available in multiple deniers (650 - 5600) for use in a wide range of applications.

Spectra® fiber has one of the highest strength to weight ratios of any manmade fiber. Its high tenacity makes it pound-for-pound 10 times stronger than steel, more durable than polyester and gives it a specific strength that is 40 percent greater than aramid fiber. Specific performance is dependent upon denier and filament counts.

Spectra® 1200 is one of the world’s strongest (30 / 2.57 g/den) and lightest fibers with a denier of 1200 / 1333 decitex. The breaking strength of this product is 79 lbs with an elongation of 3.9%.

Spectra® 2400 is one of the world’s strongest (29.5 / 2.53 g/den) and lightest fibers with a denier of 2400 / 2667 decitex. The breaking strength of this product is 157.7 lbs with an elongation of 3.9%.

Spectra® 4800 is one of the world’s strongest (26.5 / 2.27 g/den) and lightest fibers with a denier of 4800 / 5333 decitex. The breaking strength of this product is 281 lbs with an elongation of 3.6%.

Spectra® 5600 is one of the world’s strongest (25.5 / 2.18 g/den) and lightest fibers with a denier of 5600 / 6222 decitex. The breaking strength of this product is 315 lbs with an elongation of 3.5%.

Spectra® 650-926 is one of the world’s strongest (30.5 / 2.61 g/den) and lightest fibers with a denier of 650 / 722 decitex. The breaking strength of this product is 44 lbs with an elongation of 3.6%.
