Foam Blowing Agents

Honeywell Advanced Materials is a global leader in foam blowing agent technology. Our Solstice LBA and GBA technologies avoid the potential release of millions of tons of CO2e during commercial and residential spray foam insulation on walls, roofs, metal panels, appliances and many other applications. Customers rely on us for these liquid and gaseous Solstice blowing agents to increase energy efficiency with ultra-low Global Warming Potential. Our Enovate 245fa HFC blowing agent for plastic liners is non-ozone-depleting and provides outstanding insulating characteristics with long-term performance.

Solstice and 245fa non-ozone-depleting insulation for commercial and residential applications

Spray Polyurethane Foam

Our blowing agents are key to closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (ccSPF) that insulates, air seals, manages moisture, and increases structural strength in commercial and residential buildings. Our blowing agents offer environmental and performance benefits. Compared to HCFC- or HFC-blown foam, our Solstice® Liquid Blowing Agent (LBA) improves foam performance (yield, adhesion, water and air resistance, nonflammability). It also is better for the environment with an ultra-low GWP of 1.

Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent

  • Applicable for new systems, offers an optimal balance of properties, including better energy performance and stronger eco-efficiency

Enovate 245fa

  • is a proven replacement for HCFC-141b and other hydrofluorocarbon and nonfluorocarbon blowing agents in rigid polyurethane foam.

XPS (Extruded Polystyrene)

Solstice® GBA increases insulation value in XPS planks, allowing for thinner boards that still meet performance requirements. Solstice® GBA is ideal for XPS insulation used in residential and commercial construction. It replaces HFC-134a and other fluorocarbon and non-fluorocarbon foam blowing agents. Using our ultra-low GWP blowing agent increases the insulation value of XPS foam. This can translate into thinner panels required to achieve the desired performance, or higher thermal insulation value of panels with the same thickness.

Solstice Gas Blowing Agent

  • is ideal for extruded polystyrene (XPS) and one- and two-component PUR foams. It replaces HFC-134a and other blowing agents with a GWP < 1.

Panels/Boardstock

Our blowing agents are used in insulation panels and boardstock for refrigerated trailers, walk-in freezers, and architectural panels, cold storage, emergency shelters, modular school classrooms, and general structural insulation.Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent. Insulated metal panels (IMPs) are typically formed with polyurethane (PUR) or polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam sandwiched between two metal sheets to make composite roof, wall, and partition panels. Our blowing agents improve foam performance in IMPs.

LNG Ship Insulation

The right choice of foam blowing agent can minimize BOR during transit, and Enovate® 245fa is a critical component in insulation performance. Many LNG ship builders currently use foam insulation formulated with HCFC-141b. Enovate® 245fa, significantly improves insulation performance compared to HCFC-141b, HFC-365mfc or water-blown foam

Enovate 245fa

  • spray foam insulation is non-flammable with zero ozone depletion potential.
